Knowing the public puts a bit too much trust into the word sanctuary, many roadside zoos operate under the guise of one because sanctuaries aren't typically held to the same level of public scrutiny as the average zoo. Sanctuary is only a word and nothing more.
Big Cat Rescue
Big Cat Rescue, formerly Wildlife On Easy Street, began as a bed and breakfast where tourists paid to sleep with exotic cats in cabins. They now operate under the guise of a sanctuary even though they exploit their animals through various commercial activities. Many of their cats have been portrayed as rescues even though they were bought, bred, and born at their facility.
